And now for the technical bit...
Knowaste's engineers have developed a custom made and practical nappy recycling solution for the UK market. Within an air controlled and clean working environment, they process materials in a dedicated receiving bay. Utilising autoclave advanced thermal treatment technology, the nappies are sterilised, separation commenced and moisture released. The nappies are then ready to be processed ready for recycling.
There is a further sort and separation of plastics and fibres and removal of contaminants. They are then granulated and go through multiple washing stages before being bagged. They can then be used, or pelletised to be used in new products: plastic components, ingredients in composite materials replacing concrete and steel. The fibres can be used for industrial cardboard tubing and fibre-based construction materials.
